HDB: Calling for Ideas

Proposing new and improved ideas for the Existing and upcoming HDB estate. Research and ideas were done to achieve the goal.

Firstly, I studied the measures of the upcoming HDB estates. I noticed that a sky garden is implemented in every new HDB estate, on top of multi-story car parks. However, the older estate does have this measure so for this I used my estate, Whampoa, and used my block as the guidelines for the sky garden

Some HDB's rooftop are empty Transforming those into a garden would be possible. Outdoor exercise equipment, seats, small plantation of plants can be implemented. Residents can meet up to hang around or can do some gardening with other residents which results in making new friends.

Some places have a BBQ pit on the ground floor of the HDB, possibility of implementing a few more on top on the rooftop so it will boost the excitement for the residents. They will have their meal and enjoy the view too.

For some HDB blocks, there will be space along the small road within their blocks which I feel is a kind of waste to leave empty. Greenhouse ideas can come in place. This idea is not only for upcoming HDB but also for existing HDB. The residents can plant their vegetables and can use them for cooking.

Currently, some new HDB flats are located near the Cycling paths, easier for the cyclists to use them. However other estates can install cycling along the side of the roads since some cyclists would want to travel along the road instead of using the shared path.

The upcoming HDB such as Tengah will be having elevated MRT trains running. Infrastructure like Bus interchanges, hawker centres, and Elevated Train stations can have solar panels installed to generate electricity

All of these ideas were proposed and explained in my presentation slides. It was a good experience for me to explore the features and concepts that will help the residents and others too. With good measures implemented in HDB estates in the upcoming years, it will be a great place for residents to work, live, and play.
