Deepavali Light up 2020 Ideas

With the success of the 2019's Deepavali light up ideas, I made some designs for this year too. Working together with the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA), I propose the theme and ideas for this's year decoration concept to Mr Rajakumar Chandra, the chairman of the organisation.

Along the streets of Little India, decorations will be places for people to snap pictures. This royal shelter consists of 3 domes with platforms at the bottom. I wanted to create a royal feel to the theme making it memorable for the people. People could stand inside the structure and snap lots of pictures. However, there are considerations to this as when people are in contact with the decoration due to the lights preventing electric shocks.

Lots of research and ideas were implemented in the design process, thinking what people would want to see in the decorations.

This year's theme I have set is Indian dance and culture. It is to show the importance of the identity of Indian traditional dance and musical instruments. Peacock dance is also part of Indian dance as well, which is why peacocks have been implemented in the design. There are 2 postures for the peacock, one standing on a structure and the other without the structure. I have made the peacocks look at the front which tends to give the impression of welcoming the visitors who are entering Little India.

The Street decoration consist of, Deepam (Lamp), peacocks’ feathers and flowers. Bright and vibrant colours are the main priorities in the design, because the colours will attract lots of people. 2 options are available.

Not only the streets of Little India must be decorated, but also the trains and buses too. Singapore Land Transport Authority has been implementing designs during festive seasons to bring in the mood to other parts of the country. This has been done before during all 4 festivals and even during the National Day period.

I made designs of the interior of the train cabin and the exterior of buses.

Hopefully, my ideas might be considered and can be implemented during Deepavali. This kind of project helps me to get better in computer graphics skills and also gives me the platform to showcase my talent and ideas.
